I would like to do all of my paintings on buffalo hide. Animal hides were our first canvas. When I was given a hide I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. Paint on it so I did Sitting Bull and his family and one of his many speeches. These historical speeches are just as relevant to our situation today as it was then.
Sharon & I over heard some young Indian teenagers whisper to each other when they looked upon the hide painting "Wow that makes me feel proud!" Our youth need to see these historical works/documents in their homes schools in public areas as part of their education. They have ancestry and are descendants of our past. Who they are and where they come from is important.
